2008-2009 NBA Forecaster NEW YORK KNICKS (23-59, 14TH EAST CONF.)

The Knicks are another team also in the rebuild process, but there still is a mess with player personnel. And are still a long way from competing.

Luckily for them, this is the last season of Stephon Marbury and his contract. At some point during the season, look for him to bitch and wine, because he isn’t getting enough playing time. Right now he is the backup point guard to newcomer Chris Duhon. Who will struggle to fit in at the point.

The run and gun style of head coach Mike D’Antoni will be in affect, but the players just aren’t there to do it consistently. Too many players on the team have big egos and want to play their style of basketball. So the front office still has a lot of work to do.

A few players that need to change their game and stop thinking about their pay cheques are: Jamal Crawford, too much of a hog. Eddy Curry needs to lose a lot of weight and is vastly overpaid at 9+ million a year. Jared Jeffries, he straight up has no game and is also overpaid at 7 million a year. Stephon Marbury only thinks about himself and his 23 million salary. Zach Randolph has lost weight, and has changed somewhat, we’ll just have to wait and see. Quentin Richardson may just fit into D’Antoni’s coaching style as they were together in Phoenix. With these players still on the roster the Knicks will have problems winning games, and rebuilding for the future with so much money tied up in players who can’t play.

There are a few players in return on the Knicks roster that are good, and one of them being David Lee. One good thing Isaiah Thomas did right, drafting the scrappy and physical David Lee. Two rookies on the team in Patrick Ewing Jr. who showed some promise at Georgetown, and the Italian Danillo Gallinari. He’s got two choices, to play good basketball and to show the fans you are trying to get better, or don’t do that and let the pressure, media and city eat you alive.

POSITIVE --> NOTHING RIGHT NOW
NEGATIVE --> SALARY CAP ISSUES, PLAYER PROBLEMS, AND STEPHON MARBURY.
X-FACTOR --> CHRIS DUHON AT THE POINT AND HIS PLAY COULD CHANGE THE DIRECTION THE KNICKS ARE HEADING IN WITH HIM AND THE TEAM. EITHER IN A GOOD WAY OR BAD WAY.
SLEEPER PICK --> DAVID LEE WILL TURN IN SOLID SEASON ON BAD TEAM.
PREDICTION --> NO PLAYOFFS, PROBABLY WILL MATCH LAST SEASONS 23 WINS.
OVERALL --> LOSING BASKETBALL AND A LOT OF BOOING AT MSG.
