One of the bigger trades of the off season went down, involving the Bucks and New Jersey Nets. For the Nets, it was about unloading a huge contract in Richard Jefferson. For the Bucks, they wanted a more competitive team. It looks like they maybe this upcoming season.
On paper the Bucks have a good enough team to compete. At the end of the season the playoffs may not be there. Although they have a better backcourt than last year, and a point a good point guard in Luke Ridnour. The PG position will still present a problem, because Luke Ridnour has had back to back sub par years, and this is his first with the Bucks.
Michael Redd will now have some scoring help with Richard Jefferson playing in the frontcourt. It will all come down to front court scoring for the Bucks. Yi Jianlian was supposed to be an intimidating opponent along with Andrew Bogut. Gone is Yi to the Nets, and that leaves Bogut all alone. He has shown great strides in scoring and on defense. He has to put his game on another level this season.
That will be hard to do, because the Bucks have three scorers on the floor. Michael Redd, Richard Jefferson and Andrew Bogut. So ball distribution and d the amount of touches each player gets may be a problem. With Luke Ridnour running the point, ad with no chemistry there will be problems. This has been Michael Redds’ team for plenty of years, so don’t expect him to let go of his workload and scoring opportunities. Redd is a scorer and will always be. By seasons end, Andrew Bogut’s development may have a dent in it. He may be the one who will have to take a cut on the amount of touches he will get, so Richard Jefferson can score. One guy you can count on to play a team game is Charlie Villanueva. He is a good all round player, with nothing but upside.
POSITIVE --> SCORING THREATS ON THE FLOOR.
NEGATIVE --> NO CHEMISTRY, LUKE RIDNOUR AND HOW HE WILL HANDLE PLAYING WITH 2 SUPERSTARS.
X-FACTOR --> EITHER BOGUT OR JEFFERSON. THEIR AFFECTS ON THE TEAM WILL EITHER BE GOOD OR BAD.
SLEEPER PICK --> CHARLIE VILLANUEVA WILL TURN IN A DECENT SEASON. NUMBERS MAY DROP, BUT DEFENSIVELY WILL BE GOOD.
PREDICTION --> PLAYOFFS, NOT THIS YEAR. WILL IMPROVE ON 26 WINS.
OVERALL --> MAY SEE PLENTY OF PROBLEMS ON THE COURT.
