After exciting the city of Oakland 2 years ago by knocking out the number 1 seed Dallas Mavericks from the first round of the playoffs off of raw emotion from the crowd. The Warriors missed the playoffs last year and may just miss them again this year, with the loss of Baron Davis.
This time around, Cory Maggette is the only change through free agency, and the face of the team is pretty much the same, or maybe just a little worse without the Baron. Playoff experience may be the only downfall of the team because in all positions they are okay. Even though some players have that experience, it just isn’t enough. Out of all the positions, the PG situation is a question mark, since Baron Davis used to run the team. The only other player who could run the point may just be Monta Ellis. With little to no experience at the point the Warriors will struggle at times. After having ankle surgery to repair damaged ligaments, Monta Ellis will be sidelined for three months. That could mean a slow start for the Warriors. No team wants to get behind quickly in the West, because once you’re down, you’re going to stay down and will need a miracle.
If the Warriors are in a playoff chase for the last few playoff spots, a few players may become tradable. That can be anyone from the starting 5 to the bench. Playoff experience is all the Warriors need, and they will be a better team for it.
POSITIVE --> OFFENSE
NEGATIVE --> POINT GUARD PLAY AND MONTA ELLIS INJURY.
X-FACTOR --> ANDRIS BIEDRINS. SHOULD HAVE A STRONG SEASON AND STRONG START DUE TO MONTA ELLIS INJURY.
SLEEPER PICK --> RONNY TURIAF. HAD STRONG SEASON WITH LAKERS, AND PROVIDES A SPARK COMING OFF THE BENCH.
PREDICTION --> DOG FIGHT FOR FINAL PLAYOFF SPOT.
OVERALL --> EXPECT AN EXCITING BRAND OF BASKETBALL WHEN MONTA ELLIS RETURNS.
