With a healthy dose of young talent, look for the Bobcats to be a run and gun type of team. Wait a minute, Larry Brown’s coaching the team, which isn’t a bad thing, but a strong emphasis on defence will be placed.
With barely any positives from last season, the Bobcats are in rebuild mode, which has been on queue for about 3 years now. Injuries have been the main problem to some of their young talent such as: Sean May, Adam Morrsion and Emeka Okafor. If these three can remain healthy for a whole season then the possibilities are endless for this team going forward. They already have a formidable starting 5, but again only if healthy. The lingering effects of those injuries may affect the actual game play due to some players being hesitant to do what they would normally do.
A few bright lights did shine last year, with the emergence of Matt Carroll and his shooting abilities. As well as Jared Dudley who showed off his quick thinking and drive.
Things to look for this season are Emeka Okafor. Will his attitude change after signing a lucrative contract where he kept demanding more and more millions? With so many players who were stars in their college days and go to guys. Will they adapt to a team first mentality? With the addition of D.J. Agustin (a solid draft choice), how will it affect the starting 5 and the on court game play?
POSITIVE --> LARRY BROWN. TONS OF YOUNG TALENT, BUT WILL INJURIES TAKE THEIR TOLL AGAIN?
NEGATIVE --> INJURIES AND THEIR AFTER EFFECTS. CAN THE BRASS PUT TOGETHER A COMPLETE TEAM WITH THE YOUTH THEY HAVE? WILL THE PLAYERS LEARN TO PLAY A TEAM GAME WITH BARELY ANY CHEMISTRY?
X-FACTOR --> WE KNOW WHAT OKAFOR IS CAPABLE OF DOING, BUT WILL GERALD WALLACE REBOUND AFTER NUMEROUS CONCUSSIONS SUSTAINED OVER THE YEARS, AND WILL IT HAVE SLOWED HIM DOWN?
SLEEPER PICK --> I CAN NAME 3 GUYS RIGHT NOW, BUT WILL CHOOSE SEAN MAY. IF HE CAN PLAY SOLID BALL, HE AND OKAFOR CAN DO BIG THINGS.
PREDICTION --> LOOK FOR MORE THAN 32 WINS AND MAYBE, JUST THE SLIGHTEST CHANCE FOR THEM TO BE IN A DOG FIGHT FOR THE FINAL PLAYOFF SPOT.
OVERALL --> LOOK FOR A DRAMATIC CHANGE IN PLAY ON THE COURT.
